SOCAR now in Malaysia: Your Car, Anywhere, Anytime

SOCAR Launch

SOCAR is a car-sharing platform that allows you to book a car that suits your needs by the hour, day or week all through using a smartphone application. The technology was first launched 6 years ago in South Korea and now, for the very first time, makes its way into Malaysia to usher a new era of keyless driving.  It is SOCAR’s first overseas expansion and they aim to give people the convenience of driving a car without the commitment of owning one.

SOCAR: How does it work?

SOCAR Launch

Through the innovative mobile application and cleverly designed car integration system, users can book, unlock and drive a car with just a few taps.

SOCAR members need to first download the app and register an account. The user would be requested to submit a photo of their IC or passport for identity verification.  Once the registration has been approved, members can select a car of their choice from their vicinity and embark on their journey. Once the journey is completed, the car can be returned to a designated SOCAR park spot.

  1. Download the SOCAR app from app store.
  2. Sign-up with a valid driver’s license, ID, and payment information (credit/debit card)
  3. Verify your account and start making your reservation.
  4. Head over to SOCAR zone and get your car. Take photos of the front, rear, right side and left side of the car and send it to us through the app. You’re all set!
  5. Ensure that the car is returned on time and in a clean condition with 50% of petrol tank filled. If you need to refuel, simple use the petrol card that is readily available in the car.

Multi-flex Transportation

SOCAR Malaysia CEO, Mr. Leon Foong has shared with us why SOCAR would be the people’s choice:

Security & Safety: First of all, nothing is more important than the security and the safety of the user. The current SOCAR fleet is consists of Perodua Axia (4-star Asean NCAP), Honda City (5-star Asean NCAP), Honda HRV (5-star Asean NCAP) and Mini Cooper (4-star Euro NCAP). Every SOCAR reservation includes full comprehensive and personal accident insurance for the time reserved to manage member’s safety expectations.

On-Demand & Convenient: Users can book cars from anywhere and anytime for however long you want. Be it for 30 minutes or a whole week.  Just ensure that you book 10 minutes prior to your journey. Besides, the advantage of SOCAR is that the parking spot is guaranteed with its designated parking spots. SOCAR currently has 100 designated pick-up spots across the city with a fleet of 240 cars. The fleet is expected to grow to 1000 by the end of this year. Besides, SOCAR also has door-to-door (D2D) service where the car is delivered straight to your desired pick-up point at the fee of RM 5.00. (This service is currently available in Bangsar and Damansara )

Affordable: SOCAR members get to book cars and enjoy rides from rates as low as RM8/hour for the Perodua Axia. Payment option, of course, is limited to credit card & debit card only.  members can add up to three payment cards.
